Yesterday I listened to Joe Pags interview Texas Governor Rick Perry.  The left is making unusually outrageous charges against Governor Perry's refusal to take "free federal money" in order to expand Medicaid in the great state of Texas.  Governor Perry responded and commented on the truth about federal grants and "free money".

How I wish more of our local municipal, county, and state officials would think and talk like Governor Perry. This is not "free money" -- it is taxpayer money funneled to Washington where they skim off "their cut" and then "return" part of it to the local authorities where it should have been collected and spent in the first place (assuming it is for a necessary and warranted use, of course).  If these misallocated funds are, in turn, funneled through state level bureaucracies, those also take "their cut" before doling it down to the local level.  Everybody gets their cut at the expense of the beleaguered taxpayer.

And, these grants and "handouts" always come with federal strings attached.  These always require the local government to cede a part of its authority (and our liberties) to the federal bureaucracies and power brokers.  It's part of why we're headed toward an all-powerful central government.  Governor Perry is courageous and wise to begin refusing to step into these traps and fall for the lure of "free money".  There's a nasty hook hidden inside that lure!

And let's not forget a crucial principle here.  The federal government is bankrupt.  They're borrowing that grant money, adding to an untenable $16.8 TRILLION debt and $123.4 TRILLION in unfunded liabilities.  By taking that money, you're hastening our national demise.

Hey local officials!  Listen to Rick and learn!

Based on the lies of Global Warming/Climate Change, the Obama Administration has handed out huge sums of money during the so-called "Stimulus" programs and other grants to all kinds of "green" "renewable" energy companies.  The favorite boondoggles were in solar and wind power pipe dreams.  But the government largesse with taxpayers' money extended to poorly conceived electric cars and the batteries for them.

Obama and his fellow cronies liked to call these throwaways "investments".  He liked to portray these sham ventures as "research and development" into "tomorrow's technologies".  Truth is, for anyone who takes the time to research it, electric cars are older technology than gasoline powered vehicles.  They came first.  And in spite of all the improvements in motor, battery, and materials technology, the range, speed, reliability, and durability has not increased at all since the early 1900's.

And the overall efficiency when you consider the multiple power conversions (first at the power plant, then to battery storage, then to battery drain, then to mechanical power, then to kinetic motion) is far, far worse than using gasoline or natural gas.  Thus, the pollution is greater.  And the toxic wastes produced in the battery production and vehicle manufacture are greater than those for more familiar vehicles.  It's a boondoggle.

Same with solar.  No matter how much the solar cell technology improves, solar will never be viable for more than small portable power needs.  There is simply not enough energy in sunlight falling on a given area to ever be economically viable for power production.  And then, to be useful, once again you have to store the energy in banks of batteries -- and you're back to the efficiency problems and technology limitations of batteries.  Not to mention again that to manufacture solar cells generates far more pollution and toxic waste than batteries.

But the worst part of all this foolishness was that Obama's green energy program was really much more about rewarding crony supporters than anything else.  All of the companies upon which he has squandered our money were headed by friends, campaign bundlers, major contributors or political allies.  This was another redistributionist scheme, but this one benefitted his friends.

The following list is of the 34 "green energy" companies that were subsidized with Federal money and have either gone out of business, or are in bankruptcy and likely to go out of business.  Together, they represent a cool $80B of our money -- all for NOTHING!  No new techology.  No new jobs.  No progress toward energy independence.  No new products.  Only more national debt.  Only more deficit spending.  Only more squandered money.  Only more enriched crooks.

Over 1900 investigations have been launched, but nothing will come from them.  The political subterfuge is too deep.  The only thing we can do now is get more people to awaken and demand a stop to the lies and deceptions.  Demand a stop to the wasteful schemes.  Demand real and substantial cuts in real spending.  Demand government policies which encourage all forms of inexpensive energy without government interventions.  We can do it!

The results of the first-ever audit of the Federal Reserve are coming out.  They are absolutely mind-boggling.  They are purely corrupt and evil.

I had been able to add up about $8-9 Trillion that the Federal Reserve had disclosed to bail out various domestic and foreign banks, to prop up the sagging stock markets, and to "shore up" the U.S. economy through what Bernanke has euphemistically called "quantitative easing" (simply a disingenuous synonym for "printing money" or "monetizing the national debt").

That was bad enough, being in addition to all the TARP funds, Stimulus funds, and Federal Deficit Spending.  The money supply was and is clearly in danger of entering a hyperinflationary cycle.

But, now the Truth is coming out.  It's not a paltry $8-9 Trillion that the Federal Reserve under Bernanke and Obama have lavished upon cronies.  No.  It's over $16 Trillion -- more than twice what we thought!  Keep in mind this is in addition to the National Debt of over $16 Trillion.  It is completely separate from all the deficit spending of the out of control Federal Government.

It's no wonder that Americans have lost over 40% of their wealth during this same time!  It's actually a wonder that we haven't lost it all!  The Administration and Federal Reserve together have more than quadrupled the total world supply of dollars in circulation since Obama took office.  The only reason we aren't in already in hyperinflation is that so many of these new dollars are being hoarded in reserve by the world's failing corrupt banks and by the business world which is terrified of spending capital in the midst of such insanity.

The Federal Reserve is, indeed, the biggest scam in the history of man.  The Federal Reserve is the largest criminal organization on the face of the Earth.  We have enabled and ignored a secret (it's never been audited, it's separate and above the U.S. Government, and the "owners/investors" are unknown) cabal that is working on a global level against the interests of the American people.

This should be a scandal of such proportions that it should bring down the Administration and the Federal Reserve in an explosive flash of public outrage.  If we had a real and honest news media any more, this should be the topic of every discussion every hour every day until a new Administration is installed.  The people at the top of the current Administration and Federal Reserve should go to prison -- and perhaps worse.  And the Federal Reserve must be abolished!

The fact that this scourge will be hushed and that only continuing distractions will be debated in the pseudo-media during this election season is a clear sign of the late stages of decline and decay in thi.  Get ready.  Things are going to get bad before they get better.

You are aware of the actions by the Obama Administration to gut, by another illegal Executive Order, the work rules established by Congress during President Clinton's signature welfare reform act.

But, just in case you've missed it, the first video below is a Fox News report of this issue that will bring you up to speed.

The old adage is that if you subsidize and encourage a behavior, you'll get more of it....

California is certainly a laboratory for the worst examples of encouraging and subsidizing terrible behaviors.  So, the second video should not surprise you as a California welfare parasite extols the "benefits" of the welfare state -- and wonders why anyone would want to actually work in America.

But we all know it's really about buying votes through dependency programs.

What's that the old street preacher used to proclaim?  "The end is near."  He may have just been a bit too early in his timing.....

You really won't believe this.  It's so dumb and so stupid that it can't possibly be factual.  No one would ever support such an obvious and blatant joke of a scam.

Look, don't play the video below if you don't want to be disgusted.  Just go somewhere else if you think the grant process is legitimate.  Turn away if you believe unions are working for their membership.  Run if you have faith in your politicians of either political party.

Every time I begin to believe this country might wake up and restore values, James O'Keefe exposes just how corrupt and despicable things really are now.

Ugh!  Yecch!

Today, I was utterly disgusted to have to call the offices of both my senators -- John McCain and Jon Kyl -- to urge them to vote against the Law of the Sea Treaty.  This is an international treaty which would create an international body in Jamaica to monitor traffic, mining and other uses of the seas, including emissions from shipping and etc.  The real purpose of it, however, is similar to Cap & Trade:  wealth redistribution, with the people of the United States as the main distributors. The staffers in each office told me that the senators had "no stated opinion".

No stated opinion?  How is that possible?  Why don’t the Republican National Committee and every elected Republican official have a written statement on it?  Are we to believe that they have no opinion or that it’s all brand new to them?  Yet, here I am in the ridiculous position of having to call two Republican US Senators to urge them, through the filter of their twenty-something staffers, to please not sign away our sovereignty!  When is it ever, under any circumstances other than total military defeat, okay to sign away American sovereignty?

It's Time To Get The Agenda Done

We need a Tea Party Agenda and we need one soon.  For one thing, having the agenda would solidify and somewhat formalize our millions of voters who call themselves “Tea Party”.  Secondly, it would give us clout with Republicans.  We could demand that they sign our agenda, pledging to carry out the items on it.  Failing to do so would result in an elected official’s name being sent out to all Tea Party memberships, advising of this failure to take the pledge.  Thirdly, if establishing our agenda and having Republican elected officials sign that pledge fails to result in winning the policy items pledged, due to half-hearted efforts or total neglect to introduce or pass the items, we would have the basis to form a new party and leave the old, ineffective, unresponsive leadership in the dust.

Is anyone under the impression that Republicans in Congress are presently working 24/7 to win the legislative policies we wish to see implemented?  I think not -- but then, where would I go to find out?  They make a show of protesting Democrat initiatives, but we end up with basically what the Democrats want as public policy.  How can there be any question as to how two Republican senators will vote on Law of the Sea?  It’ mind-boggling to think that it’s in question!  Suppose, however, that both senators are against this treaty and will actually vote against it.  Why shouldn’t that position have been previously stated and posted for all to see?  We should be able to go to any congressional delegate’s website and see (1) I will vote for the following (list of items) (2) I will vote against the following (list of items) (3) I will introduce bills to achieve the following, in accordance with my pledge (list of items) (4) Here are some things we may wish to consider as a party (list of items).  What's difficult about that?  Want to know where your representative and your senators stand on Obamacare?  Go to their website.  It’s not there?  Why not?

Decision-making in this Republican Party seems to be far too sequestered and made by far too few people while the rest of us are totally in the dark and out of the conversation.  The majority of policy outcomes in terms of voting and positions should be known prior to an individual’s election.  They must then be held accountable for those positions.

Obama recently claimed “executive privilege” in order to stonewall information about “Fast & Furious”.  Why isn’t there an explicit, detailed agenda, with a list of action items, distributed to the party membership by the Republican Party leadership?  I believe that it’s for the same reason as Obama’s executive privilege:  they don’t want us to know.

Let’s get a Tea Party Agenda written and let’s start to exert some control over these runaway politicians!

Just for fun, here’s a start.  Only a true conservative would introduce this bill:

Local Preservation And Citizen Empowerment Act

“Any program or function of the United States government which sends funds to the states in the form of grants, matching funds or aid is terminated.  The government of the United States is hereby prohibited from dispensing funds, collected from the various states and their citizens, to another state and its citizens, for projects or other purposes unrelated to the direct operation of the federal government and/or unrelated to the general welfare and benefit of all citizens of the United States.  Neither may the government of the United States take money from any state and then give the money back to that state for purposes unrelated to the direct operation of the federal government and/or unrelated to the general welfare of all citizens of the United States.  The United States government is hereby prohibited from funding or contributing to funding public schools.  Exceptions to these prohibitions are ad hoc aid to a region following a natural disaster or damage from warfare.”

The purposes and intent of this legislation follow:

1. To permit local decisions as to how local funds should be used.  To place decision-making back in local hands,
taking the approval of federal government employees out of the equation.

2. To keep citizen money of the various states in those states for local consideration.

3. To reduce the federal tax burden on the people of the United States while shrinking the size of government and the
influence of government employees over our lives.

4. To reduce the influence of the federal government employees in the determination of public spending among the
     various states.

5. To prevent the federal government employees from wasting taxpayer dollars on local projects which would never
have been approved if locally funded (meaning they were unnecessary to begin with).

6. To place into local hands more decisions over who receives financial funding from public sources (city, county,
     state).

7. Place education funding and decision-making once again securely into the hands of the localities.

When we think of the Chamber of Commerce, we normally perceive a pro-business advocate of free markets and fiscal responsibility.  We tend to believe that since it represents business -- a majority of whose members are small businesses -- and, thus, the "capitalist" system, that we can always count on the Chamber to favor conservative policies and to serve as one of our "watchmen on the wall" of Big Government.

Well, it just isn't so, unfortunately.  As proven by the issue addressed below by the Heritage Foundation, the Chamber can also be corrupted and tempted by Big Money.  It is on the wrong side of the Highway Subsidy bill -- read that "mass public transportation" or "high speed rail" bill.  Given that some of its largest members (think G.E. and GM) are in bed, fascism-style, with the Federal Government -- and given that many of its members (think "green" "alternative" heavily subsidized businesses) are feeding at the government trough -- and given that there are huge sums of Federal and State expenditures at stake, the Chamber has been bought and is being used again.

The Chamber is going to be running media ads here in North Carolina promoting more government largesse, even in the face of crushing National Debt and a collapsing currency due to out of control Federal Deficits.  We simply cannot afford more stimulus and advocating more stimulus will not serve the longer term interests of the Chamber of Commerce, its membership, or the rest of us.  Nevertheless, the Chamber is selling out for short term Government Candy regardless of the long term consequences.

This is not how most businesses operate.  But it's obviously how the Chamber now operates.  So, people, beware of the Chamber and recognize its motives for what they really are.  We can no longer trust this institution like we used to do.  It is losing its way because it apparently has compromised on its core principles.  Sad.

Thanks to steadfast conservative opposition, Congress delayed consideration of the House and Senate transportation bills until they return from their week long recess.  Unfortunately, bad ideas never die in Washington, which means conservatives must remain vigilant.  We are winning, but we have not won.

Next week, lawmakers are scheduled to take up the issue again.  As is often the case, the Senate is a lost cause.  They are simply negotiating how to make a bad bill worse.  In the House, however, they face a choice:  dramatically reduce the cost of the bill and further empower states in an attempt to appeal more to conservatives, or try to shore up more support from moderates and Democrats – The Establishment – by increasing spending even further.

We need to keep up the pressure and continue our push for cutting spending and moving towards returning control of transportation spending back to the states where it belongs.

Conservatives must stay vigilant and hold Congress accountable.  Even in an election year, we cannot allow conservative principles to succumb to the big-government priorities of the Washington Establishment.

May I have some more, please?
May I have some more, please?
_This is likely a harbinger for the nation.  The number of people who receive means-tested benefits from the state of Maine now outnumber the people who pay state income taxes.  Either we are overdoing entitlements, or else we are in Charles Dickens' England.

Paul LePage, the Republican governor of Maine, mentioned an uncomfortable truth in a radio address this month:  Maine has more welfare recipients than income tax payers.

Democrats challenged the accuracy of this assertion.

The Bangor Daily News fact-checked LePage and discovered that 445,074 Mainers paid state income tax, while 453,194 received some sort of state aid.  In Maine, Medicaid, welfare, food stamps and subsidies for education have a combined enrollment of 660,000.  Adjusting for overlap clearly shows that there are more people on state assistance than there are state income taxpayers in Maine.

Nationally, only 53 percent of the nation lives in a household that pays federal income tax.

While just about every worker has taxes withheld, many people have the entire amount refunded at tax time.  With child tax credits and earned income tax credits, many people get more money from filing a return than they actually paid in.  But 30 percent of Americans live in households that receive some sort of public assistance that is means tested, meaning a person must have an income low enough to qualify for the aid.  The data is from the U.S. Census Bureau for 2009.  Some programs have expanded since then as the economy is growing very slowly.

That means 92 million people are on public assistance in one or more of its forms. That includes 33 million children – or 45 percent of all the people under 18.

Medicaid is the top government program, covering 74 million people.  That is nearly one in four Americans.  The next most used public assistance program is food stamps, which covers 34 million Americans or one in nine people.  Almost 20 million people live on cash welfare and 11 million live in public housing.

Some policymakers have encouraged dependence on government programs and discouraged job creation.  Producing more dependents than taxpayers is a formula for disaster.  But the dependent class can always be counted on to vote for more and bigger government handouts and entitlements.
