What You Need to Know Before You Send Mail to Our Congresspeople

Sending mail to our D.C. representatives is not the same as sending it to City Hall, and there some things we've learned about sending them "snail mail" that you need to know.

Senator Richard Burr — Mail (incl. postcards) sent to Sen. Burr's NC offices is rerouted by their local post offices to Washington, DC. It is run through scanners, etc, and then returned to the NC offices. This process adds about 20 days to the delivery time.

Therefore, any comments for Senator Burr on issues that are time-sensitive would reach him faster if they are
 - faxed to him (202-228-2981)
 - phoned (202-224-3154)
 - emailed to him on his website https://www.burr.senate.gov/contact/email

Senator Thom Tillis — Sen. Tillis' Raleigh office is in a federal building. Any mail sent to his Raleigh office goes through scanners, there, and is not sent to D.C.

Congresswoman Renee Ellmers -- Mail sent to Rep. Ellmers' Dunn office does not go to DC for screening.

For thorough contact information for our D.C. denizens, go to our US Congress page.

The real communication challenge is to find a format that cannot be filed away and ignored. Scanned and ignored. Faxed and ignored. E-mailed and ignored. Phoned and ignored by a staffer. Signs marched by their offices and ignored.

We have lost the ability to influence the top government people because we have lost the ability to influence the masses who elect them. Old and virtuous standards fall to "Woodstock" morality.

To the point, organized religion divides the one church that Jesus built, and denies the one revelation given to mold our religious, moral and ethical values and practices. Most religious bodies (denominations, etc.) fail to teach the Bible, the whole Bible, to their members, and few members have any working knowledge of scripture.

Basic Bible doctrines of the new birth, the Christian as a temple of the Holy Spirit, the concept of "in Christ," and Jesus' baptism have been replaced with simplified slogans that will fit a business card.

Bible and secular history is clear on how God corrects these abuses. Pray that we avoid his wrath.

Bob, I don't have an answer for you. Maybe we are here at this place and time to change things. I think Jesus ascended into heaven so that we could carry on His work. I am reading Jesus Shock by Peter Kreeft. It says: "God is not the answer to our problems. He is the giver of our problems." I always call on God for help. "OK, God, what do you want me to do?"
