In 1964, America faced record deficit spending, the expansion of government programs, and a President who wanted to increase the already burdensome tax rates on the American people. Ronald Reagan boldly articulated a scathing indictment against the policies of the left, while at the same time laying out the Conservative principles that would eventually become the platform for the Reagan Revolution, defining what it means to be Conservative for the next 45+ years.
"You and I are told increasingly that we have to choose between a left or right, but I would like to suggest that there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down—up to a man's age-old dream; the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with law and order or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism, and regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would trade our freedom for security have embarked on this downward course," Reagan said.
On Tuesday evening this week, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) gave a speech, fittingly, at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. America faces challenges even in excess of what Reagan's America faced in 1964 under President Johnson's government expansion, and Rubio delivered an equally scathing speech against the liberal vision for America, and articulated a vision of Conservatism that may very well last another 45 years. "Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about allowing people to catch up," he said.
"The free enterprise system does not leave people behind. People are poor and people are left behind because they do not have access to the free enterprise system, because something in their lives or in their community has denied them access to the free enterprise system."

Senator Marco Rubio - Its the Debt not the Debt Ceiling Stupid!
Bob Schieffer, host of Face the Nation, had Florida Senator Marco Rubio on the show to discuss the debt ceiling. As much as Bob tried to change the subject to the process, Senator Rubio stayed focused on the problem.
What is the problem? Its the debt stupid!
Schieffer tries and tries to pin the tale on the negotions to raise the debt ceiling but Senator Rubio makes the point over and over again that raising the debt ceiling raises the national debt and therefore simply kicks the can down the road. It allows politicians to say they are doing something, keeping the government from defaulting, when they are in fact doing nothing but delaying the default date. Bob just can't seem to understand that concept. But then again Bob is not one Marco is talking to, he is talking to the American people and the American people get it.
