About Moore Tea Citizens
Mission – MTC’s mission is to educate the citizens of Moore and surrounding counties about the moral and practical superiority of liberty and the importance of grassroots action to secure it; to inform them about activities by government that threaten or protect liberty; and to advocate for groups, individuals and public policy that will further the cause of liberty.
Origin – MTC is a truly grassroots organization. It began in Moore County in the same way the Tea Party movement did all over the country. A few local patriots had been concerned about the direction the country had been going after the Reagan years, alarmed by the historic spending during the Bush (43) years, and shocked by the promises and actions of Obama. The movement coalesced around the Tax Day demonstration in 2009 and the Tea Party movement was born in Moore County.

Core Principles – The inalienable rights of the individual human being, succinctly expressed by John Locke as Life, Liberty and Property.
Values –Like America’s Founders, MTC holds the position that to protect and restore liberty, government at all levels—but especially at the federal level—must be limited in size, scope and power, be fiscally responsible and beholden to their constituencies. The US Constitution provides the framework and limits required to effect this for the federal government.
Membership – MTC is open to all who support and advocate the purpose, objectives and mission of MTC, regardless of party affiliation.
|
Affiliation – MTC is loosely affiliated with many like-minded organizations but is a fiercely independent, stand-alone group comprised of residents of Moore and surrounding counties.
Funding – MTC is a wholly independent, grassroots organization. Its existence relies on the donations of time and expertise by its volunteers, the monetary donations from its members and supporters, and the sale of raffle tickets and MTC merchandise (T-shirts, jewelry, etc.). To protect its integrity and remain obliged solely to its members, MTC applies revenue from the advertising of local businesses or from grants from external, non-partisan organizations or individuals only to special projects that can, if necessary, be terminated with no impact on its normal operations. MTC does not accept donations from partisan sources including the Republican, Democratic or Libertarian parties, or the RNC or DNC.
