Endorsement: NC House of Representatives, Dist. 52 (Primary Election)

In the March 3 Primary Election, Moore Tea Citizens endorses:
NC House of Representatives, District 52 — Bob Temme
Discussion: Bob Temme, Chief of the Southern Pines Police Department, is proven leader and espouses the values and policies that would guide the General Assembly towards to protecting the unalienable rights and liberties of North Carolinians. We believe Bob Temme will be an extraordinary representative of Moore County in the NCGA. His background, reputation of integrity** and unambiguous policy statement suggest he will be a formidable agent for Moore County's citizens.

For several election cycles, MTC has opposed Jamie Boles' reelection. His actions* warrant electoral removal by the voters since he has not opted to step out on his own. We wish him well but it is time for a stalwart fighter for liberty and private property to represent Moore County.

*The following is a partial list of why we believe Moore Co. voters should replace Jamie Boles: His defense of the NC "Tier" system which "redistributes" our tax money to other counties; his interference with the Moore County Board of Education and County Commissioners in order to reinstate the deficient school superintendent; his forcing of the spending millions of tax dollars on the Samarcand boondoggle; his holding up of the delimiting verbiage on the county sales tax, requested by our commissioners, until it was too late to become law (apparently out of personal ego and animus); his ardent refusal to privatize the sale of liquor; his failure to take a lead role in making NC a "constitutional (concealed) carry" state...

Endorsement: Judge, District Court, District 19D, Seat 4 (Primary Election)

In the March 3 Primary Election, Moore Tea Citizens endorses:
Judge, District 19D, Seat 4 — Steve Bibey
Discussion: Steve Bibey had previously performed honorably as district court judge. He is a known, successful performer of the duties of this office and adherent to the standards he professed as a candidate. Melissa Curry seems to be a fine attorney and citizen, but she is an unknown quantity.

The are two bases on which to judge the suitably of a candidate:
--Performance while in office. Performance evaluation is objective and only applicable to a candidate who previously held an office similar the one s/he is seeking. We analyze how a candidate performed, and how well s/he kept campaign promises. These are known factors, and the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.
--Policy statements, campaign promises and background. When a candidate has not held an elected office, we can only evaluate what s/he says, and his/her background and pedigree. These are certainly useful and have been the bases for our support of some and rejection of others. However, one's promises are just words. As we've seen with candidates-turned-elected-officials (e.g., Renee Ellmers) candidates can lie and/or abandon their stated policy positions.

Note: You should not infer this endorsement of Judge Bibey impugns or casts aspersions on Melissa Curry. We consider her a viable future candidate for district judge in future races.

Endorsements: Board of Education (Primary Election)

2/3/2020

In the March 3 Primary Election, Moore Tea Citizens endorses
Board of Education District II — Robert Levy

Board of Education District V —
Philip Holmes
Discussion: The current Board of Education* has failed to be a directorate of good stewards and failed to represent the conservative majority in Moore County. The incumbents  overspent by many millions of dollars, approved a redistribution plan for dubious purposes, acted as a "rubber stamp" for the superintendent rather than his supervision and governor, allowed the education performance in Moore County's schools to erode, and repeatedly demonstrated disdain for the electorate. We have lost confidence in all seven of the sitting board members.

To wit, we endorse both of these candidates in the primary election as men with bona fide conservative credentials who will challenge the board and the superintendent to pursue excellence over appearance, and fundamentals over Progressivist activism.

*Including Helena Wallin-Miller (Dist. II) who, until recently, chaired this Titanic, and John Weaver (Dist. V) who, although only recently appointed to fill a vacancy, brushed off a very informed and rational citizen and voted to approve the redistricting plan
