The rights specified in the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution were not the only rights recognized by the Framers. In fact, some opposed adopting the Bill of Rights out of concern that at some future point the government might use it as license to deny Americans their other, unspecified rights. That fear has been proven valid with so many rights, especially property rights, being trampled on by governments at all levels. However, the Bill of Rights is a critical set. Note: The Constitution does not grant rights, it only specifies rights that are inherent under natural law.

Right to a fair trial
